THE NORTHERN ROCKET FOOTBALL LEAGUE
“Dennis Mothersell Memorial Award of MErit”

 

In September of 1997 Dennis Mothersell, the Field Director of the Sparta Rocket Football program, passed away suddenly at the age of 40. Prior to the 1998 season the NRFL Executive Board decided to create an award to be presented annually to the member area that best exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, and commitment to youth displayed by Dennis Mothersell. The award, which is presented to an area/Field Director from each of the league's divisions, is named in his honor.

The award is based on each area's performance the previopus season with the balloting taking place at the annual Winter Meeting. The announcement is made at the Pre-season Meeting, and the awards are presented at the winning area's field during the season. THE NORTHERN ROCKET FOOTBALL LEAGUE
“PRESIDENTIAL AWARD OF MERIT”

 

In early 2009 the Northern Rocket Football League, Inc. was in the process of revising its bylaws and the full Executive Board and Council of the league decided to create an award that would recognize an individual who had distinguished themselves above and beyond what is expected of someone associated with the program. (Article IX.b.1, NRFL Articles)  

The recipient of this award is someone that the Chief Executive Officer/President of the league recommends to the Executive Council and they in turn present the nominee to the full Executive Board for approval.  Nominees for this award can be recognized for their long service to a member area that in turn is beneficial to the NRFL as a whole or for an exemplary act that benefits the league’s participants.
